Greetings from the J Seed & Co team
We would like to introduce ourselves and help you understand why you should shop and buy from us rather than from other suppliers on the market. You’ll soon discover we’re a one-stop-shop for all your fuel storage and dispensing needs! We don't just sell tanks, we provide a wide range of Oil and Fuel Tank Services.
Family Owned
We are a family-owned and run company established just after World War 2 by Joe Seed, who initially started making general steel fabrications but soon started to specialise in making steel oil tanks.
Over 60 years later, all we do now is oil and fuel tanks and everything else that comes with it. We still make our range of high-quality steel tanks from our fabrication site in Preston. In addition, we have a storage facility on our site in Preston to store a wide range of storage tanks. Therefore, we have many plastic oil tanks in stock, ready to be dispatched for quick delivery.
Oil Tank Experience
We have five staff members in the office – 4 of which are family members. We have over 80 years’ experience selling oil tanks combined, which has generated a wealth of knowledge, and we consider ourselves experts in our field. Due to this, our customers can expect a perfect solution for their requirements. Furthermore, due to our small but professional team, we offer a personable service where we know and remember customers and understand the needs and requirements of the tanks they order. With our years of experience and knowledge, take comfort in the knowledge that you’re in very good and capable hands- no matter how complex or simple, we’ll have a solution perfect for your needs.
If you are unsure what oil tank you need, call our expert team on 01772 338892, and we will happily talk about your needs for an oil, plastic or steel tank and which brand would best suit your requirements.
We’ve been making steel tanks for more than 60 years. Our welders have 70+ years’ experience combined making steel tanks. All our steel tanks have been meticulously designed to maximise storage at affordable costs. Our steel tanks are generally made to BS799 Part 5 and designed with a 20-year life expectancy in mind. We are one of the very few manufacturers that stiffen their tanks to ensure longevity. All our steel tanks are made in house by hand, using high-quality British materials. We can make any steel tank you require- got a tight space, no problem! Give us a call and we can work to your restrictions. We’ve made all sorts of weird and wonderful shape tanks. Check out our Bespoke Services for more information or give us a call.

When plastic oil tanks first started to appear in the UK, they were imported from Europe, and the first ones were semi-translucent, which soon caused problems with algae.
However, plastic oil tanks were quite popular. Due to them being lighter, easier to install, and maintenance-free.
We thought plastic oil tanks would completely take over our industry, so we started selling Kingspan plastic oil tanks shortly after they started making them over 30 years ago. However, we are still as busy as we have ever been making steel oil tanks which are as popular as ever. Now we sell a wide range of different plastic oil tanks.

High-Quality Plastic Tanks
We have only ever, and will continue to, sell good quality brands which we know and trust. We still sell Kingspan/Titan oil tanks which are now the same company and have been for many years, but about 16 years ago, we wanted to introduce a cheaper brand of oil tanks which does not compromise on quality.
With cost in mind, we started dealing with Deso as they are of excellent quality at excellent prices. Deso is now owned by the Kingspan Group, parent company of Titan.
After this, nearly 14 years ago, Envirostore (whose director we knew very well as he has been in the oil tank industry for many years) started manufacturing oil tanks. So we started selling their oil tanks too. We have sold thousands of Envirostore oil tanks and can honestly count the number of problems we have had with them over the 14 years on one hand.
If a plastic tank seems cheap, there is usually a reason. Therefore, we only sell good brands we know and trust with a proven track records for high quality.
In recent, we are proud to add Harlequin into our aresonal. We have found Harlequin tanks to be of a great quality and very reputable. We keep a heathy stock of Harlequin tanks of popular sizes for immediate dispatch. Check out Harlequin Tanks.
Plastic tank types we sell:
Bunded Oil Tank
Single Skin Oil Tank (we would always advised against using a single skin)
Waste Oil Tank
Bunded Fuel Tank / Diesel Dispenser
AdBlue Tank (dispenser)
Potable and non-potable Water Tank
Sometimes the positioning of an oil tank can take up valuable space. To comply with fire protection regulations, oil tanks need to be at certain distances from combustible material and structures. To mitigate this, we have designed an internally Fire Protected Oil Tank, the only kind on the market where the whole system has been independently tested and surpass expectations. In short, our Fire Protected Tanks are made from 4 layers- the inner tank to hold your fuel, inside a bund for containment, which is then surrounded by fire protected cladding and held together by a steel outer.
